My first pediatric clinical starts tomorrow at Children's Mercy South. I don't expect anything too exciting since it's just orientation. But Wednesday will be a full day from 0700-1500 (7 a.m.- 3 p.m.) I'm very nervous about it. I know that pediatric hospitals deal with a lot of infections- both viral and bacterial. One of my clinical instructors send out information telling me I should be fine as long as I do proper infection control (hand washing) and PPE (personal protective equipment). Just keep me in your prayers.
On a different note, Tim got in his renewed work permit. We're elated!

2010 Happenings so Far....
As I started putting together this blog at work today, I figured I could put up pictures to explain our life so far at the end of 2009 through 2010.
I got to spend two weeks in KY for Christmas during this past year. (Now that I think about it, I got to spend one week for 2009 and one for 2010....) One of the gifts Tim and I bought for Dad was a shop-vac. Let's just say that Mom was imagining all the possibilities with the new toy. :)
MawMaw and Levi really enjoyed the time I was there. This was taken on Christmas morning, while we were waiting everyone else to arrive. (Mom, Dad, and I stayed with MawMaw and Levi to cook the turkey on location.) Below are more pictures from the family get together. And yes, Elijah is wearing a tutu.
I also got to introduce a new member into the Patel extended family. Jalpaben and Bhavik had their baby in late December (even though he was due in January.) The picture above is me holding little Om just hours old.
Even though Tim didn't get to spend Christmas in KY, he still got presents sent back to him from Mom and Dad.
Grandpa made a new friend by helping a pigeon that couldn't fly during an ice storm. While Lady spent the cold days curled up on the couch (against Tim's wishes).
Tim and I got spiffied up for church during the cold wet days of February and nursing school school started back full swing with early morning clinicals and four hour lectures.
My psychiatric clinical group bonded pretty well together. I also learned how to put a "rubber hose up your nose (nasogastric tube)."
Our clinical group did a 70's theme party to record our class teaching assignment and watch a psychiatric movie "Rachel Getting Married." There was lots of food and laughs!
Tim and I attended our first Britt Worldwide (BWW) conference in April. It was held downtown Kansas City and was full of excitement/memories.
My first year of nursing school came to a close at the 2010 JCCC Nursing School Graduation. Now, it was our turn to fight for the gown.
I got to meet Mom's new pups (Annabelle, Isabelle, Rex, and Bess). She only kept Bess and Rex. Plus, Kyle and Jessica's new little girl, Kinley Grace, in June.
That's all the pictures I have for now. When David comes back from Mittal's baby shower, I will upload more pictures from my camera of July and August!
24 Weeks Pregnant and Nursing School is in Full Swing!
Friday, I was officially 24 weeks pregnant! According to The Bump, I will begin my 3rd Trimester on September 15, 2010! (Only 2 weeks and 4 days to go! Wow!) Then I'm in the home stretch. I have been having some of the weirdest food cravings. During the summer, I cooked boiled cabbage, saukerkraut and polish sausage for a meal one night. I guess my body was needed the nutritents from the leafy green veggies. Tim swears the baby is gonna come out looking like a peach. I have been going through 5-10 peaches in a week! My bad food craving is peanut butter and chocolate: Reese's and Nutty Buddy bars.
Nursing school is back in Full Swing. My first day back was August 18. The first test was August 27. No rest for the weary. I am currently in Peds. and will start my OB classes in October. I am learning a lot of interesting information for when the baby is born. Though, it does tend to freak me out because of all the possible complications and illness. We are just praying to God for a happy, healthy baby boy! I start clinicals at Children's Mercy South on Tuesday. I am excited and nervous.
Tim has been working hard at the gas station. He does everything to provide for the family. I am glad God gave me a hardworking husband. When Tim's not at the gas station, he has been out contacting for our business. It has given us a chance to spend some quality "alone" time together. We attend a weekly business meeting on Tuesday evenings at the Double Tree Hotel. Before the meeting, we've been going out to contact for an hour and then spending an hour out to eat alone, usually at a nice Mexican restaurant.
David started college at KU on the 19th. He likes it. The classes are bigger, but it's got what he needs for his major. He left last night to go to Canada for 2 days. Tim's sister, Mittal, is having her Indian baby shower on Sunday. She is due in November. So our extended family is expanding by leaps and bounds.
Well, I'm gonna get back to work! On a somber note to end this, please remember my mom's uncle Cotton. His wife, Jewell, passed away during the middle of this week. Mom, MawMaw, and more of the family are attending the funeral today around Osceola, AR. At least now, she's at peace and out of pain.
